Daffodils | 2016

Last fall I found a really good deal on daffodil bulbs and decided to buy a package of 40 for the low price of $10.  I had never grown daffodils before and really didn’t know too much about them, other than they are really pretty.

My daughter and I spent a weekend last fall planting the bulbs throughout our front yard border garden.  They were really quite easy to plant.  We just dug a few 6-8″ holes in the garden and planted several bulbs in each.  For more details on our adventure check out my post here.

The daffodils were the first plant to start sprouting this spring.  What has surprised me the most about these plants is how long the flowers have lasted. So many flowers bloom for what seems like only a few days.  It is nice, and a bit refreshing, to have this burst of bright yellow in our garden these last couple of weeks.

Here are a few photo updates of these lovely flowers.  One thing is for sure, I will most definitely be picking up some more daffodil bulbs this fall!

  1. I’m a huge fan of daffodils too. I bought a variety pack a couple years ago with three or four different kinds and love that they all look different and bloom in succession making the season last longer. The other bonus is that squirrels don’t like them! Unlike my tulips, which they love.
