Lately I have been looking for an inexpensive way to clean tables and chairs outside that A) doesn’t cost a lot of money and B) isn’t made of ingredients that I’ve never heard of or can’t even pronounce. As of recent cleaning products seem to be getting more and more expensive. It’s great that they are becoming more natural and chemical free but those seem to be the ones that cost so much.
I tried out the following recipe for a DIY Patio Furniture Cleaning Spray and it worked awesome! This is the time of year that I clean up my patio furniture and really scrub it clean before storing in the garage for the winter. It’s so nice to be able to take all of the furniture out in the spring and I never want to spend the time cleaning it then – I just want to use it right away!
I tried this out on my patio table that had accumulated some dirt, dust, and falling leaf stains. After spraying the table with the cleaning spray and scrubbing with a sponge it was clean in no time! I actually stood back and smiled seeing the table sparkle so much.
The best part of the spray is that there are only four ingredients!
DIY Patio Furniture Cleaning Spray
- 2 Tbsp Borax
- 2 Tbsp Vinegar
- 1/8 cup Dish Soap
- Water
- Spray Bottle
Pour 2 tablespoons of borax into a spray bottle. Follow with 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Fill up the spray bottle to it’s neck with hot water. Allow time for the borax to evaporate. Once mixed, add 1/8 cup dish soap to the spray bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with water. Either fill it slowly or with cold water or else you will have a lot of bubbles on your hands. Spray mixture on surface and clean.
Looks great!!

Thank you! I lack only the Borax. I use the fragrance-free 7th Generation dishwashing liquid. 🙂
